When drilling well and setting well casing, always use the right size casing slots, too large of well casing slots can let in too much sand.
Even though my drawing is rough, I hope you get the general idea. The main Idea is having the sand settle and only draw clean water from above. The Sand tank to catch sand, and keep your house water sand from free. You can use a regular well tank, turn it upside down, So the dome ( dome is important) is on bottom, and put drain on bottom. Gravity keeps heavy sand down and draw water from top. Better than a filter and cheaper to use also. You will need to Drain to clean sand from tank every few weeks depending on how much sand your well makes.. We have the drain water from bottom for watering the Cows, they don't mind a little sand in there water. You may also weld legs on tank if needed.
One more tip is, whe drilling your water well, use smaller well screen slots to keep more sand out. Problem with smaller well screen slot is less sand, also mean less water. smaller screen slots let less water in. if you useing water for watering crops, sediment is not a problem, but house water, with sediment will wear fixtures out fast, and makes them leak.
