Is your water safe to drink?
To find out about your water do not trust others to know. Test the water yourself. There are test kits you can buy, or take samples to local labs in your area who do water tests. Most home wells are safe, it is the city and municipal water districts who need help. Many county agents, if you call your local county exsention office can direct you with these tips. Nothing is better than your own safe personal water well on your own land. But everyone cant have a water well. Some places only allow city or municipal water districts. This is why before buying land, alway check out the water rights and optins and rules. Even if you already have a water system there, its always better to at least have the option to drill your own water well if you wish later.
City water cleanliness is not so much the water quality as much as sub standard help (illegal aliens) in charge of adding chlorine in the water supply. Many low budget water companies only pay minim wage to people in charge of your safe drinking water. If the water operator uses not enough chlorine, then miles of water lines grow algae and bacteria, which can contaminate your drinking water. If the operator uses too much chlorine you water is so high in chlorine content your water will burn your eyes in the shower. Some people complain they smell the chlorine just getting a glass of water.
If you think your water is substandard, you may have it tested.
